Pacific Fresh is a citrus packing facility that lies within the heart of the Murrumbidgee Irrigation area. We produce a large variety of locally grown citrus accessed from our very own farms in the Riverina Region of NSW.
About the Role
This Position helps to ensure the development, implementation, and maintenance of Pacific Fresh’s Quality Management System (QMS). Ensuring that the organization’s QMS conforms to customer, internal and external standards as well as all regulatory and legal requirements. Reporting to the Quality Manager and other key staff the position holder needs to know all tasks and roles within the QA team.

These objectives include a strong commitment to the highest standards of customer relations internally and externally, safety, quality, and product innovation.Key Responsibilities
- Assume the role of Acting QA Manager when they are absent.
- Support the QA Manager during external audits.
- Provide leadership & guidance to other QA team members and the other employees regarding technical & Quality Assurance matters.
- Internal auditing of processes & procedures
- Co-ordinate external laboratory testing where applicable.
- Ensure QA team complete all required training and ensure necessary certificates are kept up to date. Conduct training in assessment of fruit either for domestic or export markets.
- Reporting food safety and quality issues to QA Manager and other key staff with authority to initiate action.
- Contact approved supplier/growers regarding documentation, and any issues that may result in non-conformance.
- Comply & implement Pacific Fresh’s Food Safety Policies.
- Become a member of the crisis review & recall teams. Perform mock recalls when initiated by QA Manager.
- Ensure information is disseminated effectively to production staff (e.g. packing instructions).
- Perform monitoring and keep records for critical control process of the HACCP System and pre-operational pre-requisite program.
- To become Pacific Fresh’s DAFF Representative. Ensuring Grower Compliance to meet our grower Supplier Program.
- Assist in providing induction training to new and existing staff.
- Conduct product assessment including receival, inline production and finished product prior to dispatch.
- Monitor areas of responsibility for cleaning, sanitation pre-requisite programs to avoid product contamination.
- To go out into the field to perform Registered Crop Monitoring. Updating farm maps and all associated paperwork.
- Participate in all work-group meetings as requested by the QA manager or management.
- Liaise with production staff/management to resolve any problems.
Key Requirements
- 2+ years’ experience with HACCP & Food Safety Management systems.
- HACCP certificate preferrable or must be willing to obtain.
- Proven experience working in a food/ beverage production/manufacturing environment within food industry if preferred
- Excellent verbal and written communication
- Ability to adapt between working autonomously and within a team
- Achievement orientated, with strong attention to detail
- Strong organisational skills
- Health & Safety conscious
- Understanding of relevant legislative and customer standards
- Understanding of specifications
- Intermediate experience with Microsoft Office, Excel
