Quality Assurance Engineer

We are a well-established Engineering Company located in Brisbane that specialises in precision CNC machining, mechanical sub assembly & Aerostructure manufacturing. We invest heavily in modern equipment, and work in a clean environment, to make some of the most challenging and complex components on the market today. We work nearly exclusively with Digital Product, using modern manufacturing systems, processes, and CAD models to manufacture and inspect parts.
We work with partners like Boeing, Lockheed Martin, Northrup Grumman, Parker Aerospace, and many others to manufacture parts for the F-35 Lightning II, MQ-28 Ghost Bat, and many other programs.
Ferra Engineering is currently seeking a highly skilled and motivated Quality Assurance Engineer to join our dynamic team. As a Aerospace Quality Assurance Engineer, you will play a crucial role in maintaining and improving the quality of our aerospace products and processes.
Responsibilities
Review Contractual Quality Requirements:
- Represent Quality Assurance at quote/contract review to determine capability to perform, verify and deliver on all requirements.
- Lead the development of quality plans relative to the scope and complexity of the deliverables.
- Ensure the flow of quality requirements to operational and quality control activities, including compilation of First Article Report Plans.
Review and verify First Article Inspection (FAI) reports and documentation to ensure accuracy and completeness.
Manage Root Cause and Corrective Action (RCCA) process:
- Lead investigations to identify the root causes of quality issues, non-conformities, and customer complaints.
- Utilize analytical tools such as 5 Whys, fishbone diagrams, and failure mode and effects analysis (FMEA) to determine root causes.
- Develop and implement effective corrective action plans, collaborating with relevant stakeholders to address and prevent recurrence of issues.
Collaboration and Training:
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including design, manufacturing, and supply chain, to resolve quality-related issues and improve overall product quality.
- Provide guidance and training to employees on quality processes, AS9102 requirements, and RCCA methodologies.
- Foster a culture of continuous improvement by promoting best practices and driving quality initiatives across the organization.
.To be considered for this role you must have:
- Technical capability: The ability to review technical and contractual documents to identify specific requirements for flow down to manufacturing processes and sub-tier suppliers.
- Attention to Detail: Meticulous attention to detail in reviewing technical documents, inspection reports, and quality records to ensure accuracy and compliance with specifications.
- Problem-Solving Skills: Strong problem-solving capabilities to identify, assess, and resolve quality-related issues and implement sustainable solutions.
- Quality Tools and Methodologies: Proficiency in utilizing various quality tools and methodologies, such as 5 Whys, fishbone diagrams, Failure Mode and Effects Analysis (FMEA), Statistical Process Control (SPC), and other statistical analysis techniques.
- Collaboration and Communication: Excellent interpersonal and communication skills to collaborate effectively with cross-functional teams, stakeholders, and customers. The ability to clearly articulate quality issues, explain technical concepts, and facilitate problem-solving discussions.
- Continuous Improvement Mindset: A proactive approach to driving continuous improvement initiatives, seeking opportunities to enhance quality processes, reduce defects, and improve overall operational efficiency.
