The Midfield Group is privately owned and operates a true ‘Paddock to Plate’ experience as we own farms, factories, and distribution as to ensure we retain control of the key elements of the process of getting livestock from paddock to plate.
We are currently seeking a dedicated Quality Assurance Officer responsible for conducting hygiene and compliance checks and taking corrective action where applicable. This role is critical in ensuring the food safety and compliance of our outgoing processed meat products and provide support to the division’s QA function.
MAIN DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:
Operational:
- Conduct pre-despatch hygiene and compliance checks and take corrective action where applicable
- Conduct monitoring checks in processing and packing areas
- Ensures that product is inspected at the correct levels, conforms to specification and is safe and hygienic
- Ensures that QA tasks and records are completed accurately and signed off within an appropriate time frame
- Consult with operation departments to ensure and verify all products are safe, hygienic and to specification
- Report food safety hazards and quality nonconformities.
Quality & System:
- Ensure QA systems & procedures are adhered to, and documentation is completed accurately and on time
- Ensure accurate and timely data is prepared and input to iLeader system in relation to timesheets and identified processes
OHS, Culture and Working Environment:
- Compliance to all Midfield OHS policies and procedures
- Ensure sufficient task analyses are completed to carry out work safely
- Take responsibility for own wellbeing and safe practices
- Maintain a high level of housekeeping and tidy work practices
- Ensure Traffic Management plan is adhered to at all times.
Continuous Improvement:
- Active member in Continuous Improvement initiatives
- Recommends measures to improve branch operations, reliability, equipment performance, and quality of product & services
- Provide feedback to clients in relation to equipment performance and improvements
General:
- Act in accordance with Midfield Values, Policies and Procedures within the guidelines of the Midfield Group Code of Conduct
- Attend and contribute effectively to relevant meetings
- Carry out other duties/projects within skill base and experience both in the workshops and site based in accordance with the needs of the employer
QUALIFICATIONS:
- Experience in the meat/food processing industry would be preferred
- A degree or diploma in a food related or science-based field would be desirable but definitely not essential.
SKILLS & EXPERIENCES:
- Ability to work autonomously
- Possess a keen eye for detail
- Ability to exercise judgment and think on your feet
- A proactive attitude and the ability to trouble shoot potential issues
- Experience in the food or hospitality industry would be looked upon favourably but not essential
