Project Overview
The New Intercity Fleet (NIF) Project is being delivered by Transport for New South Wales (TfNSW) to provide a fleet of new intercity trains for operation on the New South Wales (NSW) electrified rail network. The rail-car fleet will comprise 61 long trains for the Newcastle, Blue Mountains, South Coast and Central Coast lines.
The NIF high-capacity, double-deck walk-through trains to be delivered by RailConnect NSW will be configured as four- and six-car units, and ten-car long trains (4 + 6 units). The trains will offer passenger comfort and amenities suitable for longer journeys, such as comfortable seating, advanced communications technology and toilets.
RailConnect NSW is a consortium comprising Hyundai Rotem Company (HRC), UGL Rail Services Pty Ltd (UGL) and Mitsubishi Electric Australia Pty Ltd (MEA).
Role Overview
1. To ensure each Train is accepted by the customer regarding the quality of the final presentation.
2. To assist the HRC Quality Manager in ensuring all quality issues are identified (conduct audits) and addressed in accordance with the agreed quality standards for the project.
3. Support the management of HRC’s sub-contractors to deliver desired quality outcomes.
Key Responsibilities
- Work collaboratively with all stakeholders both internal and external, that is the other members of the T&C team, our sub-contractors and the customer, to identify, rectify and close quality issues across the fleet
- Ability to conduct quality audits across the fleet
- Assist the Quality Manager to ensure all applicable deliverables are met in accordance with the Delivery Schedule.
- Identify and promote process improvements, eliminate waste where possible and drive continuous improvement initiatives
- Implement HRC Rail Drug and Alcohol testing program as required
- Participate in site safety activities and safety promotion campaigns
- Undertake any ad hoc projects, initiatives, tasks as directed by the HRC T&C Manager
Selection Criteria
- Quality/Engineering or Science qualification
- Relevant practical experience
- Working knowledge of Health, Safety and Environment legislation
- Must be customer focused, team oriented and accountable
- Proactive mindset, results driven to achieve business objectives
- Organised, efficient with a demonstrated ability to work independently
- Ability to prioritise demands, handle tasks simultaneously, set and meet deadlines
- Continuous improvement mindset
- Good communication skills (oral & written)
- Knowledge of Windows packages or equivalent: MS Word, Excel, email.
- Must hold a full driving licence with the ability to travel (if required)
