How will I Help?
As a Quantitative Data Analyst in the Data Science and Analytics team, our team's mission is to support and solve the Bank's most critical, strategic customer issues. Operating within the Customer Analytics and Insights division, our team is dedicated to delivering high-impact insights, rapid prototype solutions, and experimental design to empower the decision-making of our front-line staff and executive leaders. In particular, our team focuses on customer collections, hardship and complaints.
Key Responsibilities:
- Customer centric impact:
- Collaborate with stakeholders across the Westpac Group to enhance customer experiences through the application of advanced analytics and data-driven insights.
- Drive and improve customer experience by employing models and insights developed through collaborative efforts with Collections and Hardship Assist experts, Credit Risk, Data scientists, Insights Analyst and Engineers.
- Project / analytics leadership and ownership:
- Lead and help design the analytics workstream within a project pod structure to ensure delivery of business value
- Self manage delivery in analytics, insights, helping present findings to stakeholders in both technology and business teams.
- Thought leadership:
- Demonstrate thought leadership in analytics
- Advocate and implement best practices across both our team and in projects to help improve our data processes, and to help speed up insight adoption.
- Insight storytelling and model delivery:
- Identify, wrangle and transform data into business friendly insights for decision making
- Help the business understand their business from a data perspective, and be their trusted advisor.
- Risk Management:
- Safeguard the security and the privacy of our bank’s and customer’s information in models and insights
- Ensure solutions are validated, reliable and trusted for stakeholders and customers for decision making
- Knowledge management of analytic projects delivered

What do I need?
- 4+ years of experience in creating and maintaining dashboards, datasets and reports for business stakeholders.
- Ability to extract actionable insights and forecasts, and create presentations for non-technical business stakeholders
- Technical solution design: ability to convert and explain business problems into technical specifications, and document details and requirements for implementation.
- Experience in collaborating with cross functional teams to deliver outcomes for business stakeholders. Ability to present and communicate to both technical and business stakeholders
- Technical proficiency in the below domains:
- analytics, data wrangling, ETL and understanding of analytical databases (not limited to)
- Coding: SQL (Teradata), Python, R, C++, Javascript or other
- Microsoft: Excel, VBA, Powerpoint
- Database experience: Teradata
- Visualisation and/or front end application development: PowerBI, PowerApps, Tableau, Qliksense/Qlikview; Bokeh, Plotly, Matlibplot, Seaborn
- Optional:
- Statistical and mathematical understanding in model building, and trade offs
- Cloud & Big Data: Azure/AWS, Spark, HBase, HDFS
- analytics, data wrangling, ETL and understanding of analytical databases (not limited to)
