ABOUT THE BRANCH AND SECTION
The Human Resources (HR) Branch is responsible for strategic and operational human resource management activities including:
- Drafting, consulting, implementing and reviewing HR policies and procedures
- Employment conditions advice and services
- Case management advice and support
- Work, health and safety, rehabilitation and workers compensation matters
- Recruitment, mobility and resource management
- Entry Level Programs
- SES Unit
- Workforce reporting and planning
- Enhancing organisational culture
- Diversity initiatives
- Capability development
- Performance management.
The Recruitment and Entry Level Programs team is responsible for the management and delivery of:
- The Department’s operational recruitment services, including advertising of vacancies and onboarding of APS employees and providing a range of recruitment advice and support
- Targeted project based recruiting, including stream (bulk) recruitment
- Administration of the whole of Australian Government recruitment processes for the Australian Government Graduate Program (AGGP) Generalist and Accounting & Financial Management streams and the Australian Government School Leaver Program (in partnership with the ATO)
- The Finance Graduate Program, including cohort pastoral care and the development program
- The SES Unit which provides support to SES officers for all HR matters, including recruitment and onboarding.
These key deliverables are currently being managed across three sub-teams within the section, with cross-collaboration and all teams working closely to deliver our shared goals.
The sub-teams are:
- Recruitment Team
- Entry Level Programs Management Team
- SES Unit
ABOUT THE OPPORTUNITY
We are looking for a curious and innovative Recruitment Team Leader to join Recruitment and Entry Level Programs team.
The role will empower and provide you with the opportunity to make an impact right across Finance through the effective delivery of recruitment, onboarding services, HR advice or process transformation.
We are seeking a collaborative communicator that is client focused, passionate about innovation and will bring a positive can-do attitude and approach to fit the great culture of this small and busy team. As we are a client focused area, we are looking for a superstar who can move between competing priorities, with strong organisational skills to ensure we continue to provide an exceptional service to our clients.

All Finance staff are required to have a minimum baseline security clearance prior to commencement.
- This role is being advertised as both ongoing and non-ongoing. Roles may be offered as either ongoing or non-ongoing subject to operational requirements. Where a non-ongoing position is offered, the role will be filled for an initial period of up to 12 months. A specified term may be extended up to a maximum period of 18 months.
