The Department of Energy, Environment and Climate Action (DEECA) boasts a workforce of over 6,000 staff and operates from more than 87 locations across Victoria. DEECA unifies the state's energy, environment, water, agriculture, forestry, resources, climate action, and emergency management functions into one department. This fosters stronger connections between the environment, community, industry, and economy. DEECA's challenge is to improve Victoria's liveability with a population projected to almost double by 2050, while responsibly tackling climate change and protecting the natural environment, infrastructure, and heritage for the future.
About the role
Reporting to the Executive Director Regions, the Regional Director, Barwon South West provides a strong community-centred approach to place-based service delivery in line with departmental priorities. The Regional Director has the responsibility of implementing DEECA’s community charter at place and is a critical enabler of DEECA's role in leading climate action, energy transition and self-determination. The appointee will be a key member of the Regions, Environment, Climate Action and First Peoples (RECAFP) Group’s leadership team within DEECA, shaping and influencing local and statewide processes while enabling DEECA to achieve its goal of securing a liveable and prosperous Victoria. The role will lead a culture of service excellence, strategic planning, program design and delivery, while managing senior strategic partnerships with Traditional Owners, key government agencies, local government, and industry partners.
About you
You are a highly regarded, tertiary-qualified senior executive with extensive experience working within large and complex organisations, and proven capability leading programs of change and continuous improvement. With a natural customer service ethos and well-developed political acumen, you can secure buy-in and support from a range of stakeholders while building strong working partnerships to deliver an integrated approach to DEECA's corporate objectives and priorities across the region. As a senior leader within DEECA and the region, you will contribute to the development of a constructive culture positively to support the Department's broader organisational objectives and complex strategies.
