The opportunity
The Regional Engagement Manager – Gippsland, Project Delivery is responsible for designing and implementing best-practice strategies for regional community, landholder and stakeholder engagement on transmission projects and Renewable Energy Zones. This position is based in in the Gippsland region, with an immediate focus on locations where transmission projects are being developed to coordinate the connection of offshore wind energy to the grid. The role will design and implement tailored communication and engagement strategies for a broad range of stakeholders (including local communities and landholders), building relationships with Traditional Owners and First Peoples, developing collateral to support engagement strategies, and liaising with proponents during Project Delivery to implement the strategies as required throughout the project lifecycle.
As VicGrid's leader of stakeholder and community engagement in the Gippsland region, you will play a critical role driving communication and engagement strategies for transmission projects and Renewable Energy Zones, ensuring alignment with the principles of the Victorian Transmission Investment Framework.
You will be an experienced leader with a genuine commitment to supporting and working with the community through change that can sometimes be challenging. You have extensive regional networks and a strong understanding of local community, landholder and business priorities and drivers. You are equally adept at drawing up high-level strategies to deliver on VicGrid objectives and producing the collateral and tactical materials to support those strategies. You are comfortable working in a dynamic, fast-paced environment as part of a geographically-dispersed and highly motived team.

  • Lead impactful and best-practice community engagement with diverse stakeholders across rural and regional communities in the Gippsland region
  • Develop and implement tailored engagement strategies for local communities, landholders, Traditional Owners in the Gippsland region
  • Build and lead a team of high-performing regionally-based engagement specialists

For this particular vacancy, priority consideration applies to Victorian Public Service (VPS) and select employees of the Victorian Public Sector who apply through the

To be eligible for appointment to this role, applicants will possess corresponding work rights for the advertised employment period. Should there be an opportunity for an ongoing appointment, these will only be available to an Australian/New Zealand citizen or an Australian Permanent Resident.
This role will also require some overnight travel, as well as a requirement to work out of hours. This includes evening or weekend work where we perform our important work engaging with our regional communities.

This is a fixed term position available on a two year fixed term contract. The work location is 1301 Hazeldean Road, Ellinbank, Victoria and or within the Gippsland region subject to agreement. Hybrid work arrangements are available.
