Family owned and operated; Derwent Estate Vineyard is nestled on the banks of The Derwent River 20 minutes north of Hobart and is home to the Winery, Rathbone Cottage and ‘The Shed’ restaurant.
The Shed opened in May 2022 as an addition to the growing Food and Beverage operation started by the redevelopment of our Cellar Door in 2019. Since opening, it has developed into a unique dining experience focused on excellent food made with fresh local produce, award winning wines, over and above service both in professionalism and friendliness and all completed by a beautiful vista of the River Derwent and the Vines.
The Shed itself is built on the footprint of the original Shearing and Tractor Shed providing character and style to complete the dining experience.
Delivering modern cuisine, the Restaurant services patrons for lunch Wednesday to Sunday along with weddings and events.
We’re currently searching for a Restaurant Manager who will ensure efficient restaurant operation, as well as maintain high production, productivity, quality, and customer-service standards.
Responsibilities:
- Coordinating daily restaurant management operations;
- Delivering superior food and beverage service and maximizing customer experience;
- Responding efficiently and accurately to customer queries;
- Bookings, sales of group bookings, event sales;
- Roster, organize and supervise shifts;
- Leadership, staff management, recruitment, onboarding and training of restaurant staff;
- Social Media Management;
- Update of information on website – menu changes etc.
Skills and Attributes
- Proven experience in the Food and Beverage industry within management or supervisory roles;
- A positive “can do” attitude with the desire to be part of the service team as well as managing it;
- Excellent communication skills to ensure smooth running of front of house;
- The ability to provide superior customer service and manage a team committed to do the same;
- Ability to run back of house programs - Deputy, Swift POS, Open Table and Vinsight (training provided if required);
- Strong financial management and reporting skills;
- Effective decision-making skills and the ability to use initiative and multitask.
