About the role

Wealth and Personal Banking (WPB) serves more than 50 million customers worldwide with a complete range of banking and wealth management services to enable them to manage their finances and protect and build their financial futures. It is a global business that brings together management responsibility for Retail Banking, Wealth Management, Insurance and Asset Management with a focus on customer-centric propositions and innovative and efficient distribution channels.

The Regional Manager - NSW, QLD and ACT is a senior role reporting into the Head of Retail Distribution for WPB Australia. Your role is key to driving the success of the Branch network, implementing strategies to leverage off multiple delivery channels, creating value and a competitive advantage in our target market. You will be responsible for the success of our branch network team consisting of approximately 13 branches across New South Wales, two branches in QLD and one in ACT. Travel interstate is a requirement from time to time.

Your main responsibilities will include:
•    Working within in a highly competitive, complex, regulatory, global environment you will have responsibility for directing and leading the execution of strategies and expanding profitable banking relationships through consistent sales and servicing of financial products.
•    Drive and lead customer solutions and service activities across the branch channel to ensure the customer experience and opportunities are optimised within the respective global customer propositions and that the customer experience is consistent.
•    Oversee the Customer Journey working in close collaboration with the Head of Retail Distribution and other key stakeholders within the bank.
•    Ensure close connections between market trends, client needs, product delivery and business strategy, driving projects in response to market changes and opportunities. This is in line with HSBC Group and local strategy ensuring alignment to the Global strategy to ensure it leverages and develops regional synergies.
•    Lead a team of Branch Managers to drive customer and business outcomes.
•    Direct strategic goals, in conjunction with business heads and key stakeholders to build a profitable and sustainable business where channels are complementary and not competing.
•    Ensures professional standards of business conduct, consistent with HSBC’s reputation. 

To be successful in this role, you will need:

•    Extensive management experience in Banking and Underwriting, encompassing operational and credit risk and compliance.
•    Demonstrated experience in driving relationships and ACTivity across Retail banking, mortgage brokering and digital channels.
•    Proven ability to lead large teams with a thorough understanding of a multi-channel business model is essential.
•    Managerial, strategic planning, organisational, decision-making, problem-solving, communications, analytical, interpersonal, motivational, negotiation, project management, sales and team-building skills.
•    Strong ability to use numerical data to develop tactical plans.
•    Relevant degree and/or postgraduate qualifications in Business, Finance or related field desireable.
•    Strong business acumen and ability to continually make trade-off decisions and build consensus.
•    Thorough knowledge of the lending and credit approval process, pertinent regulations impacting retail banking activities and delivery systems and channels, including market potential as well as the regulatory framework are required.

Preference will be given to candidates who hold Australian PR/Citizenship or New Zealand Citizenship, or who can demonstrate current unrestricted work rights in Australia without limitations.
