About your opportunity
Fixed Term Temporary part-time – hours negotiable – ASAP up to 30.12.2025
Provide direct nursing care utilising clinical skills, education and support to patients/clients and nursing staff within the Unit to ensure the provision of best practice and quality patient care.
Charters Towers Health Service is an integrated Health Service, providing both Acute Services and Primary Health Care through a range of programs. These include: Child and Family Health, Community Health, Mental Health, School Based Youth Health and Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Health. Outreach services are also provided by Child and Youth Mental Health, Adult Mental Health, ATODS, Australian Hearing, HAAC and ACAT Services. There is also a visiting Paediatrician, a Respiratory Physician, General and Orthopaedic Surgeons.
Skills and experience:
- Ability to comprehensively assess, plan, implement and evaluate nursing care.
- Knowledge of legal and professional responsibilities.
- Ability to build and maintain effective relationships with the multidisciplinary team, patients and other stakeholders, including participation in relevant networks.
- High standard of written and oral communication skills within the multidisciplinary team, patients and their families.
- Ability to use or learn to use information systems appropriate to the position.
- Ability to provide clinical education and support and demonstrate own ongoing professional development.
- Ability to demonstrate competency as outlined in the NMBA Registered Nurse Standards for Practice.
- Salary range of $40.51 to $51.97 p.h. (Nurse Grade 5)
- Annual leave with 17.5% loading
- 12.75% employer contribution to superannuation.
Requirements
- Bachelor of Nursing or equivalent certification relevant to the position is mandatory.
- Proof of qualification, registration with the Australian Health Practitioner Regulation Agency (AHPRA) and possession of a current practising certificate.
- Highly Desirable: Experience in Emergency Department and a current Adult Life Support certificate.
- Adult Life Support certificate: Must be able to obtain and then maintain an annual competency in Advanced Life Support as per THHSCLI040151 Life Support Training and Assessment
- Appointees will be required to work all shifts in accordance with the unit roster, which will include participation in an on-call roster.
- Appointees may be required to participate in an on-call roster.
- This position requires the incumbent to operate a class C motor vehicle and an appropriate license endorsement to operate this vehicle is required.
- This is a Vaccine Preventable Diseases (VPD) risk role: Hepatitis A/B, Measles, Mumps, Rubella, Varicella, and Pertussis.
