The Post Anaesthetic Care Unit located at Townsville University Hospital are seeking an experienced and client focused Registered Nurse to join their friendly and supportive team, for a permanent part-time role, working 64 hours per fortnight.
The Registered Nurse in Post Anaesthetic Care Unit is to provide post operative cares to patients immediately following general/regional anaesthetics

The opportunity The Registered Nurse is to provide direct nursing care utilising clinical skills, education and support to patients/clients and nursing staff within the 18-bed bay Post Anaesthetic Care Unit (PACU) to ensure the provision of best practice and quality patient care.
The PACU supports the 14 Operating Theatres and outlie areas such as Medical Imaging and Cardiac Catheter Laboratory.

Role requirements
- Qualification: Bachelor of Nursing or equivalent certification relevant to the position is mandatory.
- Shift Workers: Appointees will be required to work all shifts in accordance with the unit roster.
- On Call: Appointees will be required to work on call in accordance with the unit on call roster.
The ideal applicant will be someone who has proven ability and can demonstrate the following:
- Demonstrated ability to perform the roles of the PACU nurse in accordance with Australian College of Perioperative Nurses (ACORN), Australian College of PeriAnaesthesia Nurses (ACPAN) and ANZCA PS04 standards.
- Knowledge and understanding of airway management in the Post AnaestheticsCare Unit or transferrable skills form another health care setting.
- Current advance life support (ALS) and Paediatric advance life support (PALS) is desirable.
- Provide clinical skills, support and education to patient/clients and nursing staff within the Unit to ensure the provision of best practice and quality patient care.
- Demonstrated ability to work independently or within a collegiate/team structure.
- Demonstrated ability to priorities work commitments and work autonomously in a rapidly changing work environment.
- Excellent consultative, interpersonal, verbal and written communication skills.
