The Magistrates' Court of Victoria (MCV) is a jurisdiction within the Court Services Victoria statutory authority, and has a long history of providing justice for the people of Victoria in metropolitan and regional courts across the state. The Court determines in excess of 300,000 cases per annum at 51 venues, equating to approximately 90 per cent of all cases that come before Victorian courts each year. The Court aims to be an innovative, accessible and responsive court that provides quality services to the Victorian community.
About the role
- As a Registrar-Operations Manager of the Magistrates' Court, manage the operations of the court complex ensuring the delivery of court registry services and quasijudicial functions in accordance with appropriate policies and court operational practices.
- Manage and lead staff in delivering responsive services by monitoring demand pressures, performance outputs, identifying service gaps and implementing effective solutions.
- Lead, direct and motivate staff and be responsible for their training, development and performance.
- Initiate, build and enhance key relationships with internal and external stakeholders, including the Judiciary, Court staff, the Department of Justice, a range of community organisations, and other Victorian Government Departments.
- Provide high level, complex, appropriate and authoritative advice on all matters coming within the Court's jurisdictions to key stakeholders including the Judiciary, legal profession and the public and represent the Court on various discussion groups and committees as directed.
- Manage the security and maintenance of court buildings and their surroundings in accordance with Court policies and procedures.
- Develop, evaluate and implement new policies and procedures that enhance the Court's operations and assist in achieving the Court's strategic and operational objectives.
- Contribute to the strategic direction of the Court by recommending future strategies, delivering expert advice and implementing strategic initiatives.
- Provide authoritative briefs and technical reports on complex issues.
