This is a Recruitment Pool for Fixed Term Full Time appointments for 6-12 months with the possibility of extension(s).
Suitable applicants will be placed in a pool from which appointments may be made when similar vacancies occur. Appointments may be made from this pool until 31/12/2024.
Appointments for this position will not commence until 2025.
Position Profile: The Registrar – Trainee – Clinical Haematology will be an integral part of a team committed to providing a diagnostic pathology service and clinical service in haematology as directed by the Head of Department. Under the supervision of Consultant Haematologists, the Trainee Registrar will provide diagnostic haematology services, report, and interpretive comment on haematology results, validate results, liaise with medical staff in the follow-up of abnormal haematology results and advise on appropriate further investigations, and provide advice on blood product administration. Laboratory training will be undertaken in PathWest Laboratory Service. In addition, the Trainee Registrar will also provide Clinical Haematology services including out-patient clinics, consults and in-patient management as required. Opportunities for clinical and translational research are available. Trainee placements are available at Sir Charles Gairdner Hospital, Royal Perth Hospital and Fiona Stanley Hospital.

Sir Charles Gairdner Hospital (SCGH) is one of Australia's leading teaching tertiary hospitals. Located at the Queen Elizabeth II Medical Centre 4km from Perth city centre, SCGH provides a comprehensive range of clinical service including trauma, emergency and critical care, orthopaedics, general medicine, general surgery and cardiac care. It is home to WA's only comprehensive cancer centre - the largest cancer treatment centre in the State - and is the State's principal hospital for neurosurgery and liver transplants.
Royal Perth Hospital (RPH) is a 450-bed tertiary hospital focused on providing a range of complex and elective surgeries for adults. Home to the State major adult trauma centre, RPH offers tertiary-level emergency medicine, mental health and specialist medical services. It is also a premier teaching hospital and contribute to innovation and excellence in medical research and patient care.
Fiona Stanley Hospital (FSH) is a 783-bed tertiary hospital offering a range of health services including the State rehabilitation service, a comprehensive cancer centre, purpose-built mental health unit, maternity, paediatric and neonatal services, and the State adult burns service. FSH is the site of the state allogeneic transplant centre and haemophilia unit.
PathWest Laboratory Medicine WA is committed to providing a broad range of routine, complex and rare tests, offering round-the-clock testing for the entire WA community.
