Job description

Relationship & Business Development Manager – Library For All (a social enterprise of Save the Children Australia)

There’s something special about spending your days alongside like-minded people, just as committed to purposeful work as you. At Save the Children Australia, we attract bright and big-hearted people who are inspired to make a difference. Together, we are fearless in our pursuit of making lasting change for the children and communities who need it most.

This is no ordinary opportunity.

Our Relationship & Business Development Manager has the power to change the lives of millions of children around the world.

Working with our team of highly engaged education and technology specialists you’ll assist in stewarding Library For All’s significant pipeline of well-developed opportunities and relationships. You’ll grow existing partnerships with many of the world’s leading development agencies, including Save the Children Australia, and co-design new opportunities to create impact. You’ll help innovate to diversify our revenue base by leveraging our commercialised products and services. You’ll bring your knowledge of philanthropy in Australia to grow our existing philanthropic networks.

We’ve already changed the lives of more than 250,000 children, and with your help we can grow that to 20 million before the end of this decade.

Library For All is no ordinary Not-for-Profit.

As a social enterprise of Save the Children Australia, our mission is to make knowledge accessible to all equally. We have a proud history of using technology to disrupt traditional publishing models, and leverage innovation in our everyday work to deliver meaningful change for children’s education around the world. As a trusted partner to many of the world’s leading development agencies, we’re laser-focused on scaling our impact to create measurable change for millions more children.

Library For All is also a place where your purpose matters.

It takes all types of personalities and talents to drive our organisation– yours included. We value a healthy work-life balance and ensure our people feel connected to each other and our impact. Learn from inspiring people and grow from a connection to our strong local and global networks. From our programs to our support services - this is the place to realise your purpose.

We offer you: A place to make a difference

Here you’re empowered to make a difference in children’s lives by learning, sharing and collaborating to find new ways to solve problems.  In this full-time, permanent* role, you’ll work as a part of our Library for All team in either Sydney or Melbourne to help us create lasting change for children everywhere. The Relationship & Business Development Manager reports to our Director of Programs and Partnerships and plays an important role in delivering on our vision of a better world for children.

Whether it’s leading the revenue growth of your individual Business Development portfolio or developing and maintaining your individual Business Development plan that reflects our strategy and responds to external market trends and developments, you’ll be contributing to our commitment to children in Australia, the Pacific and around the world.

You will make a difference by:

·       Identifying and nurturing key accounts (relationships) across the Save the Children movement, including Save the Children Australia.

·       Identifying and building key accounts (relationships) across the development sector including program partners, institutional donors, corporate partners and wholesale supporter network

·       Identifying new funding and support opportunities and assisting in the development of new proposals to secure program funding and support

·       Identifying new funding opportunities through direct sales of Library For All developed learning resources

·       Deepening Library For All’s networks in the philanthropic sector by remaining up to date with sector trends and developments.

A place to feel valued

Your deep expertise as an experienced senior Business Development professional who thrives in a highly innovative, agile and high performing environment is invaluable. You’ll have exceptional inter-personal skills, well-developed stakeholder relationship management skills and a flexible communication style. This role suits individuals who are motivated by having significant social impact, with strong business acumen, strategic selling expertise, and excellent communication skills. They have a real prowess to nurture and grow relationships. They will spend as much time with their partners as possible. In fact, they will walk the corridors at every opportunity to see what other opportunities may exist within the existing portfolio of partners.

Importantly, you’ll share our passion for delivering better educational outcomes for children using technology as an enabler.

We recognise your contribution and provide you the support to ensure you can bring your best, knowing here you have the space and opportunity to grow. Bringing your best every day, means having:

·       5+ years’ experience in a Business Development or Fundraising role

·       Proven track record in growing revenue and relationships for an NGO/INGO

·       Experience in a high growth enterprise with a proven contribution to its success

·       Proven success in managing an existing portfolio of partners

·       Experience with identifying and winning a diverse portfolio of new business opportunities

·       Good diplomatic skills and cultural awareness

·       Experience with innovation, negotiation, collaboration and problem solving (highly desirable)

·       Exceptional inter-personal and stakeholder management skills (highly desirable)

·       Highly developed verbal and written communication skills, including report writing (highly desirable)

·       Tertiary qualifications in Marketing, Commerce, Business or a relevant discipline (or equivalent experience)

A place to belong

It takes all types of people to do the challenging work we do. We are diverse personalities, backgrounds and talents, embracing our differences as one strong and united team. We see and celebrate the unique value you bring to our organisation.

In addition to working at the leading edge of education technology alongside a team of highly engaged professionals we offer a range of rewards for your effort, including:
