Nganampa Health Council is an Aboriginal owned and controlled health organisation operating on the Anangu Pitjantjatjara Yankunytjatjara Lands in the far north west of South Australia. Life in the Anangu Pitjantjatjara Yankunytjatjara Lands

The Anangu Pitjantjatjara Yankunytjatjara Lands is located in the far north-western region of South Australia. It covers approximately 103,000 sq km with a population of approximately 3,000 Anangu people. The region is freehold land controlled by the Anangu people. About the Opportunities 

Nganampa Health Council are currently seeking several clinic-based Registered Nurses and Registered Nurse Midwives to join our dedicated teams in South Australia. You will be part of a multi-disciplinary team, passionate about providing care to local Indigenous communities.

Working collaboratively with, and under the direction of, the Medical Director and Clinical Service Manager, you will be responsible for delivering primary health care and assisting in the early detection and management of chronic illnesses. These positions are based in our community clinics, open from 9am to 5:30pm, Monday to Friday, supported by a nurse and doctor on-call after-hours.

About You

As our newest RN or RN-Midwife, you will be experienced in providing acute healthcare, and passionate about equal quality of care for all. The ability to communicate and participate effectively within a cross-cultural, multi-disciplinary health team and a demonstrated understanding of issues affecting Aboriginal health will be beneficial.

Our successful candidates will:

  • Be a Registered Nurse or an RN and Registered Midwife, and be registered with the National Board of Nursing and Midwifery;
  • Have a minimum of three years post-education work experience with recent acute Medical/A&E experience;
  • Have demonstrable experience working in a clinical environment and hospital-based general nursing experience in the past 3 years;
  • Have strong cultural knowledge and respect;
  • Be able to demonstrate sound professional clinical background and the ability to manage their own tasks; and
  • Have a good degree of computer literacy.

To be considered as an RN Midwife you must have significant experience in acute general work, gained within the last 5 years.

Ideal candidates for either role will hold post-basic nursing qualifications in Emergency Care, Critical Care and or rural and Remote Area Nursing, although this is not essential.

Please note: You must hold a valid manual driver's license, a Working with Children's Check, and be willing to undergo a Police Check prior to commencing.

About the Benefits

Successful candidates will be generously rewarded with an attractive salary package equivalent to $243,000 - 264.000 commensurate with Remote Area experience.  This is comprised of a base salary and non cash benefits of $32,000, including:

  • Superannuation
  • Relocation assistance 
  • District and work allowances

  • Leave loading; and
  • An annual return airfare
