Your Role
Your primary role and purpose is to work with Aboriginal families and the community to provide a continuum of child safety. This will range from developing the community’s capacity to safeguard the wellbeing of its children, to providing support to families and taking action when children have experienced substantial harm.
You will spend time undertaking community capacity building with the aim of making long term, sustainable differences in reducing the incidence of child abuse. Your stay in the community will be a challenging, but rewarding experience. During this time you will hope to:
- Create community prevention strategies.
- See improved outcomes for women and children.
- Successfully engage with the families and increase their caring and protective capacity.
- Build constructive links between the Department and the community.

The opportunity
This is a fixed term, full time opportunity for 12 months with the possibility of a 12 month extension.
