About the Role
7.30 is seeking a highly motivated, energetic and experienced journalist to join the team as a Reporter to research, write, compile and present news and current affairs content that is accurate, timely and innovative covering a range of subjects and issues.
You will identify strong original stories for our program and be responsible for guiding them from initial stages to final delivery - finding ways to tell them in contemporary and visually original ways.
Reporting to the 7.30 Executive Producer, you will:
- Produce top of the rundown, important, agenda setting stories that appeal to a broad range of Australian audiences.
- Research story materials, identify suitable sources, and arrange and conduct interviews to support output for the digital platform.
- Develop a network of contacts and sources
About You
The successful applicant will have current affairs television producing experience and a keen eye for strong and original content. You will also bring:
- A thorough understanding of contemporary television production techniques for long form broadcast stories.
- Aptitude for sophisticated current affairs television-making skills.
- A strong grasp of political, social and economic issues with good contacts.
- Excellent communication skills. Able to work in a fast-paced environment with tight deadlines.
- Sound knowledge or awareness of 7.30 production style.
- Experience working in a cross-platform filing environment and experience in shooting video, are desirable.
