An experienced Front of House Manager is required to oversee a leading Port Douglas restaurant.
This is a senior position where you will be joining a beautiful elegant/Fine Dining restaurant, leading an experienced team and working in a well-respected venue.
The Role
In conjunction with senior management and the Executive Chef, you will be responsible for day-today operations of Nautilus restaurant.
This is a hands-on role that will require a strong service background, high standards and understanding of the industry, as you strive to maintain and elevate the Nautilus reputation.
You will be working closely with management and your team to ensure the venue meets financial, operational, legislative and service objectives while maintaining the highest levels of guest satisfaction.
This includes:
- Leading & maintaining an energised, motivated and highly skilled team to ensure the highest standard of service and guest satisfaction.
- Overseeing floor service nightly, ensuring it is to a Fine Dining standard, while still relaxed and in harmony with the serene setting.
- Coordinating service and production between the kitchen, floor and bar to achieve a consistently high standard of service and product thus ensuring high levels of guest satisfaction
- Overseeing functions and events, ensuring they are executed as planned to create extraordinary experiences for our guests
- Managing the full life cycle of each team member – recruitment, rostering, appraisal, development, coaching and mentoring.
- Managing cost, budgets, labour costs, wastage and stock control for the restaurants
- Compliance with all statutory, OLGR, WH&S standards, procedures, and processes, in addition to Nautilus procedures and policies.
What you bring to the team
- Experience working in a similar position with at least 2 years in management in an upmarket venue or restaurant. (OR you are an Assistant Manager/2IC with significant experience, proven ability to lead and a strong desire to step up.)
- Strong operational capabilities and business acumen with an understanding of drivers of profitability.
- Adaptable and able to perform in high-pressured service periods.
- High level attention to detail with exceptional organisation skill & ability to work under pressure, whilst providing positive support & leadership to the team.
- Desire to foster a dynamic, inclusive & engaging workplace culture.
- Proven history in maintaining a high standard of service and operational success.
- Ability to implement and drive ongoing training to ensure exceptional levels of quality and consistency.
- Demonstrated high level of staff management, communication and leadership.
- Experienced with opening & closing venues.
- Must possess a genuine passion for the industry.
- Strong knowledge of food and wine pairings.
- Superior liquor, cocktail knowledge and wine knowledge would be advantageous.
- Impeccable presentation, hygiene and grooming standards
- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills
- Flexible availability, including evenings, weekends and public holidays
