Summary:
As part of the Quality, Risk and Safeguarding team, the Risk and Compliance Officer, is responsible for gathering and assessing all relevant evidence connected to reportable conduct, as well as assisting with the improvement and development of internal Risk and Compliance policies and procedures.

Key Responsibilities:
- Undertaking investigations including gathering evidence from relevant people utilising varying methods
- Interpretate both quantitative and qualitative data to present factual evidence and recommendations to key stakeholders
- In conjunction with Risk & Compliance team, develop and implement risk, compliance and quality frameworks which are fit for purpose and meet Burdekin’s strategic and operational objectives
- Provide support and guidance to the organisation of all risk, compliance and quality related matters
- Monitor external and internal audit findings to ensure they are addressed, and matters resolved
- Assist and review client incident and mandatory reporting obligations to ensure appropriate action and resolution has occurred
Essential Criteria:
- Experience working in the Community Services Sector and working with young people – specifically Out of Home Care (OOHC) and/or disability (NDIS)
- Current WWCC and National Police Check or willingness to obtain
- Current NSW Driver’s License and access to a car with comprehensive insurance
- Experience conducting numerous investigations in a community service setting, ideally within the OOHC sector
- Strong understanding of the legislation, processes and policies related to young people in Out of Home Care
- Ability to communicate effectively with a range of stakeholders including young people and carers
- Highly organised with strong written and verbal communication skills
- Proven strong administrative and organisational skills with the ability to follow strict procedures for investigations
- An understanding of how to use investigative, motivational, and impartial interview techniques to gather desired information
- Strong attention to detail with the ability to use own initiative to progress investigations to completion
- Advocate for young people with the desire to protect their safety and best interests
- Demonstrated knowledge and understanding of risk management, compliance frameworks and obligations
