About the role
This role provides the opportunity to achieve the best tree management outcomes to protect and where possible extend Willoughby’s urban forest, to improve the quality of the cities trees and maximise the environment, social, and economic value provided by the urban forest to the community. You will efficiently and effectively undertake inspections, investigations and enforcement action on behalf of Council regarding the removal, pruning or damage of trees. You will work with staff across Council towards achieving full compliance with tree related conditions of development consent on private or Council land and other relevant regulatory processes and programs. There is also a potential leaseback vehicle option.
Requirements
- Relevant tertiary qualifications or extensive related experience
- Current NSW Class C Drivers Licence
- Demonstrated experience in undertaking investigations and evidence gathering
- Ability to understand and interpret legislation for practical enforcement purposes including the NSW legislation for tree and vegetation control and management and the Environmental Planning and Assessment Act 1979
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills and able to produce comprehensive and reliable reports
- Sound conflict resolution, customer relations and mediation skills
- Demonstrated analytical and problem-solving skills and the ability to manage a number of tasks simultaneously
