St Edmund’s College is an innovative Y7-Y12 school for students with a mild to moderate intellectual disability and/or sensory disability, including autism and communication difficulties. We are seeking applications for the following position:
Risk and Compliance Officer – Permanent Full-time Position (1.0) or Permanent Part-time (0.7)
The successful applicant will support the Catholic ethos of the school and demonstrate a commitment to the philosophy of Catholic Education in the Edmund Rice tradition. This position will provide risk management and Compliance advice and support by overseeing and continuously improving processes and procedures to ensure the schools meets its regulatory, legal and operational compliance and risk obligations.
- Self-motivated, professional, and dedicated to compliance
- Ensure the effective implementation of EREA (Edmund Rice Education Australia) Flexible Schools’ governance, Risk and Compliance program, policies, and practices, within the operational context of the schools overall strategic objectives
- Will be responsible for the alignment of corporate governance and Compliance accountability frameworks consistent with the vision of Edmund Rice Education Australia
- Provide specialised compliance advice to the Principal and Executive Leadership Team to meet their regulatory, legal, and operational compliance obligations
- Develop and manage internal practices, procedures, and systems to ensure the schools and their staff comply with work health and safety, privacy, child protection, and duty of care obligations
Essential Criteria
- Minimum 3 years experience in a risk, compliance, or assurance role
- Tertiary qualifications in the area of safety, HR, or relevant field
- Ability to develop, implement, and maintain compliance processes and work within the independent educational Catholic School context
- Ability to develop, implement, and maintain compliance and risk management processes and systems
- Willingness to assist with the compliance of employment contracts and other HR activities
- Ability to contribute to the provision of child safeguarding reporting and policy writing
- Exceptional communication, influencing and negotiation skills to ensure the engagement of stakeholders
- High level of IT skills, including the administration of the School Management System and CompliLearn
- Current Working with Children Check
Desirable Criteria
- Tertiary qualifications gained within a relevant field
- Experience in the management and monitoring of compliance in an educational setting.
- Experience in HR matters like staff contracts, recruitment, mediation and inductions.
