You will be part of a professional and dynamic team with responsibility over the global credit risk management activities in the NBFI team within the Financial Institutions & ESG Risk (FIG & ESG Risk) team. Your role as Risk Manager will be a part of the broader Institutional Banking & Markets (IB&M) Risk Management team and will be a trusted adviser for customer risk issues across IB&M’s Financial Institutions Group portfolio.
The role is accountable for actively managing a significant and active portfolio of credit risk. You will work individually and across the team to ensure single name and portfolio risks are adequately managed within strategic business guidelines and organisational risk appetite. An important part of your role will be to identify and drive opportunities to simplify and improve risk processes and templates to drive more insightful analysis.
The role will also be significantly involved in the process of embedding ESG risk analysis within the NBFI Risk team.
Your main responsibilities will include:
Advise senior credit risk decisioners on customer, transactional and portfolio risk concerns; provide recommendations to ensure that credit and ESG risks are identified, managed, measured, monitored, and reported;
Support senior managers in establishing risk tolerance limits and developing risk management standards of practice that are consistent with industry standards;
Contribute to the embedding of ESG risk analysis into risk processes, including building understanding of ESG risk issues within Line 1 and Line 2 teams;
Provide coaching to team members and other stakeholders as needed and assist in developing the technical and organisational capability of the team;
Re-design processes to better identify, manage, measure, and monitor credit risks and drive insights;
Contribute to the development of quantitative and analytical risk metrics and reports to manage, measure, and monitor global risk exposures.

A diversity of experience and skills, including candidates with legal or specialist ESG backgrounds. Experience in an Institutional Banking department in a major financial institution would be highly regarded.
Degree level qualification (or equivalent) in a finance, legal or sustainability-related discipline;
Strong problem-solving and analytical skills with ability to make sound and timely credit decisions;
A positive attitude and capability to multi-task and run a variety of transactions or projects at the same time. Also a curious and inquiring mind are essential.
