Palm Island is within the Great Barrier Reef and only 20 minutes by air and 1.5 hours by ferry from the major city of Townsville. Access via sea (ten minutes) to the world renowned Orpheus Island. There are a variety of activities that can be undertaken on the island including fishing, boating, and hiking.

You will be working closely with a team of 17 police officers and police liaison officers who police the Island and the surrounding Islands within the cluster. You will oversee rostering, property management and supervise the AO3 whose duties include Transport and Main Roads services and governance of all correspondence within the station.
As part of this role, you'll also collaborate with external and internal stakeholders to support policing within the Palm Island Police station.
Your Key Accountabilities:
The core capability requirements for this role are:

• Compile and amend staff rosters' according to budgetary and operational requirements in consultation with the Officer in Charge and ensure all rosters appropriately reflect Enterprise Bargaining Agreement equity requirements and rostering guidelines.
• Maintain and monitor leave management systems, including the monitoring of absenteeism trends and auditing of leave.
• Maintain control over and organise the disposal or destruction of property and exhibits in accordance with QPS procedures.
• Maintain a catalogue of exhibits, drugs and lost and unclaimed property and undertake regular audits of property holdings and monitor compliance in accordance with QPS property management procedures and policies.
• Give evidence in court regarding continuity of possession of exhibits.
• Provide training and advice to police and staff members on the appropriate storage, recovery, and disposal of property.
• Comply with workplace health and safety requirements, including the safe storage and disposal of weapons, drugs, and forensic exhibits.
• Contribute to the development of local property management procedures to reflect QPS policy and legislative requirements.

Role Requirements:
Technical/ Operational/ Educational experience:
An ability to learn new systems including rostering within the ITAS system and Qprime property management that are used by the QPS. Experience with Microsoft Word and excel essential. A suitable level of cultural competence is desirable.

The role requires neat dress and appearance as you will have contact with a variety of external stakeholders and members of the public.
