Lifeline Darling Downs and South West Queensland Limited (LDDSWQL) has been serving the community of Toowoomba, and the wider South Western Queensland area for over 40 years.
As our SAFE Connections Domestic and Family Violence Project Officer you will be responsible for our ethos of the Safe Connections Program to upskill “first responders” to recognise all facets of Domestic and Family Violence across all levels in our community and provide timely responses to the emergent needs of any individuals experiencing domestic and family violence while ensuring safety their safety. This part time temporary role will deliver educational sessions to employers, community groups and other stakeholders to ensure that families and individuals who are impacted by domestic and family violence are supported throughout their journey.
As our SAFE Connections Domestic and Family Violence Project Officer, your duties and key responsibilities will be:
• Deliver professional development sessions to “first responders”, businesses, community groups and other stakeholders that involve understanding what and how coercive control effects the lives of victims.
• Improve the relationship and equity that a person impacted by domestic and family violence has within legal jurisdictions through the delivery of education sessions with QPD and legal services.
• Enhance existing service responses and improve community capacity to respond effectively to those who experience domestic and family violence by providing professional development to first responders such as QPD, QFS, QAS.
• Advocate for and bring attention to the need for safe secure housing for women affected by domestic and family violence.
• Embed Respectful and Health Relationships Education (Love Bites) within schools in Southwest Queensland.
• To engage effectively with a range of internal and external stakeholders to promote the Safe Connections program and develop partnerships within the South West region
• Knowledge and skills in domestic and family violence and sexual violence practices.
• Demonstrated experience in providing project coordination in the Human Services sector.
• The ability to develop strong working relationships with a broad range of key stakeholders.
• Demonstrated commitment to working within a professional team and also work independently.
• Excellent time management skills and the ability to adapt to challenging work environments, resulting in efficient use of resources and positive outcomes for families
• Demonstrated commitment to maintaining safe working environments and personal/professional growth through supervision of self, including a commitment to an appropriate level of self-care.
• Advanced communication skills both verbal and written, with an emphasis on effective interpersonal skills, negotiation and conflict resolution including the ability to communicate sensitively and effectively culturally diverse individuals.
• Current Queensland “C” class drivers’ licence
• Working with Children Blue Card
**Please note that this is a Part Time temporary contract role which will be in place until 31.01.2025 with possible continuation if funding requirements allow**
