About the Role
Join our Infrastructure team and initially work within our Hobsons Bay Main Sewer project! This is a permanent full-time position to join John Holland for the long term.
We're currently looking for an experienced Project Safety Managerto join our Hobsons Bay Main Sewer project team located in Spotswood, VIC. Implement and control Safety Management requirements, strategies and initiatives the project and report progress to the Project Manager and Project leadership team.
Key Responsibilities:
- Develop and administer education and compliance programs for employees, clients, contractors and visitors
- Guide and support the Project Leadership Team to develop and implement a safety culture that aligns to the company vision, including adequate development and training in safety critical roles
- Ensure the projects maintains robust risk management processes, capability, focus and discipline related to safety
- Initiate and administer safety improvement, education and compliance programs for workplaces within the region
- Align region and workplace Safety & Workers Compensation strategies with relevant JHG business plans and assist workplaces to implement them
- Investigate all causes of events on site and recommend actions to prevent future occurrences
- Provide specialist support to internal stakeholders including operational leaders, project employees, contractors, clients and visitors
- Coordinate and provide day to day specialist support to internal stakeholders including the Project Leadership team, employees, contractors, clients and visitors during the project lifecycle
- Develop and guide project safety professionals to ensure day to day specialist project support
- Ensure the project understands and have the tools to meet their regulatory and legal safety obligations
- Maintain comprehensive safety records, manage statutory reporting requirements and monitor safety performance progress
To be successful:
- Bachelor degree in Quality, Safety, Environmental, Project Management or other associated disciplines
- Safety Lead Auditor Qualification
- Construction safety management (5+ years)
- Audit management practices (2-3 years)
- Knowledge of Safety legislation and statutes (especially those relating to Comcare), and ability to interpret any applicable statutes or legislation relevant to Project
- Knowledge of Environmental legislation and statutes, and ability to interpret any applicable statutes or legislation relevant to Project
