Aussie World, the Banana Bender Pub and the Shed is a successful tourism landmark located on the Sunshine Coast Queensland featuring a family theme park with rides and attractions, iconic tourist pub, a function and events centre and a specialty retail shopping village.
This role:
We are seeking an experienced Safety Officer to provide generalist WHS support across our business. This role is temporary for a period of approximately 3-4 months (3 days per week – hours negotiable) to provide additional assistance to our WH&S Manager.
You will be primarily responsible for :
- Day to day safety across our business, providing support and advice, follow up and investigation of incidents using our Incident Management Database
- Maintaining accurate and verifiable records, reports and database content
- Work with the team to undertake required audits
- Preparing accurate and timely summary reports of meetings and event outcomes including the WH&S Commitee Meetings
- Collate, track and prepare summary reports against key metrics for the organisation to demonstrate regulatory compliance
- Ensure compliance to our Safety Policy and our Safety Management System.
To be successful you will need to demonstrate:
- Sound understanding of occupational safety and health including investigation of incidents and auditing.
- Effective communication skills – both written and verbal - and the ability to engage at all levels of the organisation
- Ability to prioritise work with minimal direction and multi-task
- Excellent ITC skills in MS Office applications and database records management
- An eye for detail and to ensure that data collation is assured of being accurate, relevant and timely
- High level of literacy and the skill to prepare accurate and timely summary reports that reflect organisational performance and priorities
Qualification and experience:
- Certificate IV in Work Health and Safety
- Previous experience in workplace health and safety or a regulatory compliance environment
- Formal auditing qualifications (eg Skilled Lead Auditor) desirable
- Safety or training records administration
- Experience using safety software or similar
