The Role
At ALS, our safety team is passionate about providing practical guidance, technical advice and tailored support and we partner with our Smithfield site leadership team, to achieve workable outcomes for our employees and the business. We need a passionate, driven and organised person to be a key player in helping us achieve our most important core principle – We are Safe.
 
The day-to-day

  • Review, update and maintain site health and safety programs, noticeboards and internal safety platforms
  • Consult, advise and enforce site safety policies and procedures
  • Maintain employee and site records – training, certificates, etc
  • Investigate incidents, identify causes and provide solutions
  • Support managers and employees in work-related incidents and return to work plans
  • Be a positive influence to drive the ALS safety culture
  • Keep abreast of safety and industry best practice and offer ideas for continuous improvement
  • Travel to other NSW locations will be required
 
The Essentials
  • You’re passionate and you never 'clock off' safety
  • Formal qualifications (Cert IV minimum) and previous experience in Safety
  • Confidence in your knowledge and ability, which helps you quickly build rapport and trust at all levels of the organization
  • Passion, enthusiasm, and goal driven
  • Experience in incident investigations, risk assessments and auditing
  • Organized, level-headed and have a common-sense approach
  • An working knowledge of Health, Safety and Environment legislation and standards.
  • Previous experience in a laboratory environment would be advantageous
