We are looking for a Work Health & Safety Officer in our Yennora office.
About The Role
The WHS Officer will provide assistance and support for all areas of safety management and have a hands-on role in contractor onboarding and verification. Embedding best practice & on-going staff training.
Duties will include:
- Ensure compliance with WHS legislation and project WHS Plans - be the ‘go to person for all things safety across the business’.
- Provide expert-level advice and recommendations that align with operational needs, best practice principles and continuous improvement
- Report on all hazards, accidents, near misses, or unsafe conditions
- Assist with the on-going development of & implementation of key WHS strategies
- Manage on-site audits, verify that all tools & equipment are adequate and safe for use
- Undertakes regular site visits to create opportunities for consultation, education and promoting a safe work culture
- Conduct safety system audits to ensure compliance with ISO certification.
- Advise and instruct on various safety-related topics/projects such as noise levels & the use of machinery
- Assist with the management of workers’ compensation and all return to work activities
- Develop and roll out training for all staff, mentor ‘people leaders’ around managing WHS
- Drive Mental Health Awareness and Employee Wellbeing in the business
- 2 + years experience as a WHS Officer/coordinator in the construction industry is a must
- Certificate level (IV) qualifications in WHS & White Card
- A good working knowledge of the WHS Act and relevant standards
- Exceptional written and spoken English
- Unrestricted Drivers Licence
