Viking Imports is a family owned specialty food importer and distributor. We supply premium products to Australia’s leading independent retailers, health food stores, specialty deli’s and major supermarket chains. Some of our best sellers are frozen wild blueberries, organic goat feta and Swedish crispbreads! With a small but existing footprint in Brisbane, Gold Coast, Sunshine Coast and Byron Bay, we are looking to substantially ramp up our Queensland sales with your help.
The Role
A dream role for the health-focused foodie, day to day your focus will be on new business development in acquiring new stores. While you will be provided with warm leads upon commencement, it’s your skills in hitting targets that will make you shine. This role can be made your own as you continue to carve out a name for yourself in food sales and create your flexible working week.
Overall your responsibilities include:
- New business development
- Account management of current customers
- Creating comprehensive run sheets and weekly sales plans
- Merchandising including checking shelves and tickets
- Building strong customer relationships
- Upselling and cross selling new products and ranges
- Managing the inventory of short dated and bulk buy items
- Maintaining your accounts and invoicing
- Being the eyes on the ground for new trends, competitors and products
- Reaching sales targets for new and existing customers
To excel in this role, you will be required to organise and undertake monthly travel.
What You Bring To The Table
You have common sense, love a laugh and can’t stop talking about food.
Additionally, you will bring:
- Sales experience in the food industry, ideally in selling to independent retailers, health food stores and premium grocers
- A drive and a thirst for meeting sales targets
- Excellent communication and the ability to build quick rapport
- A switched-on approach to organising your time
- Great relationship and people skills
What we provide

We provide weekly sales reports and meetings to help you identify opportunities, administrative support from our headquarters in Sydney and a lovely team to work with. Additionally, the specialty products you’ll be representing are imported under exclusivity contracts and therefore have no competition in the Australian market.
