We care for thousands of children each year in our hospitals and in their homes — with one purpose in mind — to help young people live their healthiest lives.Tumbatin Clinic at Sydney Children’s Hospital Randwick is currently seeking to recruit a temporary fulltime (job shared considered) Clinical Psychologist/Clinical Neuropsychologist/Educational & Developmental Psychologist for the period 12 months .This position is full time; however, part time/job share arrangements may also be considered.The psychologist will provide diagnostic assessment services to children with suspected autism spectrum disorder, intellectual disabilities and/or developmental delay. The Psychologist will work within a multi-disciplinary team consisting of Paediatricians/Registrars and Social Workers. The Psychologist, as part of the team will provide feedback and recommendations to the family. The Psychologist will make a significant contribution to the Tumbatin clinical report that outlines the child’s developmental or cognitive functioning in the context of their developmental diagnosis and provide recommendations to support the child.The Psychologist is a member of the Psychology Department and will be supported by peer supervision. The Psychologist will be required to perform administrative and professional duties in addition to their clinical role.What you'll be doingThe Clinical Psychologist at Tumbatin Clinic will be required to provide diagnostic assessment services to children with suspected developmental delays, intellectual disabilities and/or developmental disorders in children.
Assessments are conducted within a multi-disciplinary team environment consisting of Paediatricians/Registrars and Social Workers. Once assessment is complete, the team provides feedback and recommendations to the family for the child’s ongoing care. The Clinical Psychologist also assists in preparing a comprehensive clinical report outlining the child’s developmental or cognitive functioning in the context of their developmental diagnosis and also details recommendations to support the child in community and education -based settings to develop their functional skills.
The Clinical Psychologist will also be involved in individual and/or peer supervision, educational in-services and mandatory training. The Clinical Psychologist is a member of the Psychology Department and will be required to perform administrative and professional duties in addition to their clinical role.Additional information:An eligibility list may be created for future temporary full or part time vacancies.
- Masters or Doctorate degree in Clinical Psychology, Clinical Neuropsychology or Educational & Developmental Psychology; registration with Psychology Board of Australia AHPRA and practice endorsement in Clinical Psychology, Clinical Neuropsychology or Educational & Developmental Psychology, or eligible to progress to same.
- Experience working in a multi-disciplinary team
- Experience in paediatric psychological assessment and therapy
- Accredited user of Autism Diagnostic Observation Schedule (ADOS), accredited user of Griffiths Mental Development Scale (or willing to undergo training for GMDS accreditation), experience in administration and interpretation of developmental and cognitive assessments (eg. Wechsler scales, Stanford Binet, Bayley’s Scales of Infant & Toddler Development).

- Understanding of complex family psychosocial issues that may be impacting on a child’s presentation
