The University of Sydney’s has an opportunity available for a suitably qualified School Manager to lead the operational delivery of the Broken Hill University Department of Rural Health. It is an exciting time to join the Faculty of Medicine and Health, with the emergence of our Health Precincts model, and our interdisciplinary approach to health education and research.
Based in Broken Hill, the School Manager will lead the effective and cohesive deployment of systems, processes and practices ensuring that all people, financial and operational management strategies, and practices are sustainable and contribute to positioning the school as world leading. Utilising your highly developed partnering skills, you will drive collaboration and connectivity between the School, Faculty and University teams to facilitate effective coordination and delivery of results.
Your key responsibilities will be to:
- support the Head of Rural Clinical School by operationalising their strategic vision
- develop and maintain collaborative relationships across school, faculty, and shared services teams
- oversee the service and support provided to academic staff
- work with Faculty teams to manage Rural School resources with a customer focus
- work with finance partners to enable sound financial outcomes
- lead a small team of administrative and education support staff
- maintain University governance and compliance standards
- receive and act on relevant feedback at a school level
- maintain strong working relationships in a large and complex organisation.
- tertiary education in business, commerce, or a relevant field; and extensive management experience in an operational role
- demonstrated experience in maintaining productive working relationships in a complex environment
- understanding of the operational requirements of a health or research related business unit
- higher education background desirable, but not essential.
