We are inviting applications for the afore-mentioned position from individuals who will bring expertise, enthusiasm, innovation and a commitment to the shared Vision of the College. The College Psychologist/Counsellorwill provide a range of direct and indirect services to the College community designed to enhance the educational and personal wellbeing of students. The position is part-time 0.6FTE (3 days which are flexible) with seven weeks’ annual leave. The incumbent may assist members of the College Community within the following areas:
• Short-term counselling and consultation on matters which affect the well-being and educational performance of students. This may include social, emotional and mental health issues;
• Working closely with the Learning Diversity Coordinators to assist with learning outcomes for students with special needs. On occasion this may involve psychological testing;
• Involvement in preventative programs/skill-development for students, parents and/or staff, to promote student resilience and well-being;
• Assisting with behavioural issues of students;
• Assisting with transition of new students;
• Referral to and liaison with external agencies;
• Being involved in relevant policy formulation and revisions;
• Being a member of relevant College Teams including the Crisis Management Team.
Salvado Catholic College is a growing co-educational Catholic College in Byford that commenced in 2016.
The College patron, Dom Rosendo Salvado was an inspirational missionary, educator, bishop and pioneer colonist who founded the community of New Norcia. The motto “Peace, Justice, Compassion” directly reflects Salvado’s life work and what we all aspire to in our Catholic College community.
In 2024, we have over 800 students from Pre-Kindergarten to Year 10. The College will continue to grow to reach its ultimate capacity as a Pre-Kindergarten to Year 12 College, with the first cohort of Year 12 students graduating in 2026.
