Form of workThe Role We are currently seeking multiple Scientific Assistants to join our client in Emerald. In these roles, you will provide crucial technical and operational support for a range of field activities.
These are casual full-time positions until 31 December 2024 with the possibility of extension. Responsibilities will vary depending on the specific appointment classification but may include: Assisting with planting, maintaining, and harvesting major regional agronomy and farming systems experiments. Monitoring crops and implementing field treatments, such as fertilizers, herbicides, and insecticides, in accordance with best management practices.
Harvesting, collecting, and processing various plant biomass, grain, soil, and other samples for analysis from field trials. Recording and collating results, utilizing software such as Excel. Liaising with Department district/regional agronomists, technical staff, research station staff, and farmer cooperators to efficiently conduct and service field experiments.
