The roles, responsibilities and duties of a Security Officer can be performed in many different sectors and varying roles. This Position Description outlines the general duties in line with specific role types and acts as a guide rather than a comprehensive list of tasks.Operational Compliance:

• Ensuring that all Security Officers are compliant with the requirement of MSS Security and the Customer SLA
• Assisting Management representatives with resolving issues on site
• Responding to observed incidents and safety/security breaches
• Alerting relevant supervisors and/or managers to observed risks or incidents in a prompt manner
• Ensuring devices (e.g. probe points, wands, radios and body worn cameras) are working effectively and rectifying or reporting malfunctions promptly
• Provision of detailed, timely and accurate incident reports
• Escalation of issues to nominated persons as required
• Alarm monitoring and management
• Providing appropriate support during critical incidents including communicating with emergency services as required
• Promoting customer service by providing courteous and helpful assistance to client enquiries
• Managing refractory persons professionally, including those who may be impacted by mental health issues and/or effects of intoxicating substances
• Ensuring prompt attention is given to any customer dissatisfaction by communicating to the relevant Manager
• Being aware of and following company policy and procedures regarding Health, Safety and Environment
• Delivering clear and effective radio communications
• Reporting and recommending solutions for non-compliances detected which may affect the quality of service provided

Stakeholder Engagement

• Creating positive working relationships with all stakeholders across a busy hospital site
• Ensuring communications and interactions are professional at all times, irrespective of provocation
• Delivery of professional engagement with all stakeholders including members of the public
• Responding professionally to queries or complaints as required
• Assisting with emergency evacuations as required

Compliance

• Supporting medical practitioners in managing difficult patients and members of the public
• Responsibility for being well-presented and punctual at all times
• Access control of prohibited or restricted areas
• Ensuring strong detailed knowledge of standard operating and emergency procedures and communicating expectations to stakeholders as required
• Enforcing standard operating procedures and ensuring compliance

Incident Management and Reporting

• Provision of timely, accurate and comprehensive incident reports
• Timely and detailed completion of logs
• Hazard reporting via online systems
• Thorough patrols and identification/reporting of security and safety risks

General

• Escalation of issues to the appropriate manager as required
• Any other task as reasonably directed by a Supervisor or manager
