At GHD, our close-knit Security Operations Centre team are diligent in monitoring , assessing and defending GHD's information systems across our networks, servers, endpoints, databases, applications, websites, and other systems in order to respond to information security incidents using a combination of technology solutions and a strong set of processes.
In this pivotal role as the Security Operations Centre Manager , you will be responsible for managing the Security Operations Centre (SOC) and SOC team to ensure all incidents and events are handled promptly and effectively. You will also develop and maintain relationships with internal and external stakeholders to ensure effective communication and collaboration on security issues are professional and maintained.
Some focus areas will include:
Manage and oversee the daily activities of the SOC team, ensuring all incidents and events are handled promptly and effectively.
Develop and maintain relationships with internal and external stakeholders to ensure effective communication and collaboration on security issues.
Provide leadership, guidance, and support to the SOC team to ensure they have the necessary skills, knowledge, and resources to perform their duties
Participate in IS strategic and business planning and translate into business goals for your team.
Drive for results and progress of initiatives/projects through leadership of your team and collaboration with other teams.
Proactively update your manager on work progress, improvement opportunities, potential issues and other relevant info.
Develop and implement security policies and procedures to protect the organization’s information assets.
Manage and maintain security systems, including intrusion detection and prevention systems, security information and event management (SIEM) systems, and other security-related tools and technologies.
Stay current with the latest security trends, technologies, and best practices and recommend changes as necessary to maintain the effectiveness of the SOC.
Monitor and analyse security events and alerts to identify potential security incidents and threats.
Develop and maintain collaborative and positive relationships with your team, peers and other IS teams .
Produce professional and high-quality written reports, communication and presentations as required.
About you:
Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Computer Science, Information Security, or a related field are desirable.
At least five years of experience in information security, with at least two years of experience managing a security operations center.
Strong technical skills in information security, including network security, endpoint security, and security technologies such as firewalls, IDS/IPS, and SIEM systems.
Familiarity with industry standards and frameworks such as NIST, ISO, and CIS.
Professional certifications such as CISSP, CISM, or SANS GIAC are highly desirable
