We have an exciting opportunity for a permanent full time Senior Accountant to join our team partnering with the business to provide sound financial advice.
What you need to do
The key deliverables of the role are:
- Record, report and reconcile accurate financial information.
- Analysis of revenue across all entities to ensure its completeness and accuracy.
- Inputting and processing of journal entries within accounting software and maintaining supporting documentation.
- Provide monthly reports on business performance and provide insight and analysis on trends within the business area including preparing monthly board packs and other management reports within required timeframes.
- Actively partner with the business to ensure there is control over budget expenditure and forecasting income.
- Experience in supporting and providing direction to people through various reporting lines.
- Reconciliation of customer/project funding and grant - revenue, receipts and maintaining customer/project balances within funding source spreadsheets.
- Liaising with Accounts Receivable team on NDIS claiming and invoicing to identify any accruals needed to ensure the completeness of revenue at end of month.
- Recognition of revenue on an accrual basis for other serviced delivered not yet billed.
- Preparation of reports and ability to distil large volumes of data to presentable and explainable formats.
- Problem-solve, enquire, analyse and research accounting and revenue related issues.
- Ownership over end of month procedures and reporting, including related balance sheet reconciliations.
- Assistance with preparation of month end reporting and board pack.
- Liaising with operational teams and performing ad hoc analysis and data preparation and interpretation.
What you'll need to have
- Confidence with working in a highly commercial environment
- Strong commercial acumen and the ability to work across a diverse range of stakeholders.
- Financial modelling experience
- Prior experience in coordinating reviews with business unit's senior management and the executive team to ensure performance and financial targets are met.
- Ability to assist in financial projects, tender preparation, contract drafting as and when required.
- Strong communication skills, both verbal and written essential
- A self-starter attitude with the ability to work autonomously and manage independent workload.
- Adaptability and flexibility with the ability to multitask and manage multiple deliverables.
- Be well advanced in completing or having completed an accounting qualification CA or CPA (or equivalent)
- Highly developed understanding of accounting principles and ability to apply in a complex environment.
- Competence in using Excel especially to extract and review large volumes of data.
- Have a propensity to make improvements and be inquisitive.
- Analytical and problem solving skills.
- Ability to provide high levels of customer service, both internal and external stakeholders.
- Ability to work constructively and positively in a finance team.
