We have an exciting opportunity for a Senior Accountant to join our Group Accounting team on a 6 or 9 Month Contract in our Sydney Head Office at Castlereagh St.

The Opportunity - About the Role

A key hands-on role in our Group Accounting team (part of the overall Group Financial Control team), which supports the overall stewardship of the organisation. In this role you will support the delivery of accurate, complete, and timely financial results and analysis, and contribute to building a high performance and collaborative team environment. The role will require strong stakeholder management skills and a solution mindset to support continuous improvement in a dynamic environment.

As Senior Accountant, you will have a variety of BAU group accounting responsibilities to perform which will include typical day-to-day finance operations tasks such as contributing to maintaining an accurate, complete and reconciled general ledger at the Group level. Additionally, this role is designed to add crucial capacity needed to deliver on identified continuous improvement workstreams and in turn, to identify further improvement opportunities

This is a full-time role with the successful candidate having flexibility to work from the office (3-days) and home (2-days).

Key Responsibilities

• Support the preparation and review of accurate financial accounting information for the Stockland Group.
• Support the completion of Group close and consolidation activities, including supporting Business Unit month end and preparing/reviewing and/or approving journals and reconciliations for intercompany transactions and group consolidation.
• Ensure timely reporting and reconciliation of bank accounts and clearing accounts
• Perform review of Balance Sheet reconciliations on a monthly basis
• Support the preparation of information for monthly/half yearly regulatory requirements for submission to teams such as Specialist Services for Tax.
• Provide professional, effective and efficient query and issue resolution to all stakeholders.
• Identify methods to update, simplify and improve the efficiency and effectiveness of Group Accounting processes through technology and/or process solutions

About You

You're an experienced accountant with the ability to connect the dots quickly and hit the ground running. A self-starter with a background in Audit would be beneficial as a lot of this role is about identification of issues, problem solving and process enhancement through a governance lens.

You also possess the following qualifications, skills and experience:

• Tertiary qualifications in accounting/business/commerce.
• 5+ years' general accounts experience with a significant proportion of experience gained from reconciliation activities.
• Knowledge of SAP 4 General Accounting and Bank Reconciliation module would be advantageous
• Experience with handling stakeholder enquiries.
• Proficient with Microsoft Office.
• Strong communication and collaboration skills.
