Job Description
The senior financial accountant will be responsible for the following:
Coordinating the Preparation of March hard close (undertaken April/May) and End of Financial Year consolidated financial statements (June, July, August)
Review all statements and reports and working papers for Queensland Audit Office
Coordinate the preparation of regulatory returns including Quarterly ABS and Annual Consolidated Data Return (Grants commission return)
Provide high-level technical accounting advice to stakeholders as required in a variety of formats including preparation of technical position papers, briefing notes, financial practices, email responses for advice
Continually review processes undertaken in the team for areas of improvement
Provide guidance and accounting expertise as required
Oversee financial reporting compliance over reconciliations and Quarterly compliance declarations and other regular financial reporting processes including undertaking Finance Attestation testing.
The Successful Applicant
The ideal candidate will be CPA/CA qualified and have extensive experience in undertaking accounting/ financial reporting functions in a complex organisation. Other desirable attributes include:
Substantial experience in delivering and management financial reports and financial statements
Experience in undertaking research, analysis and modelling to provide recommendations or solutions to current issues.
Experience/ Knowledge of SAP
ability to build relationships across all levels of the organisation and communicate with and translate technical matters into normal business language.
Great interpersonal, verbal and written communication skills
great time management and organisational skills to meet tight deadlines
