Senior Application Developer
Location Parramatta CBD with access to hybrid work arrangements including work from home
Full time temporary role for up to 12 months with possible extension (35 hours per week)
Salary from $116,211 to $128,061 pa. + super and annual leave loading

Your role
The Senior Application Developer guides other application developers and leads the creation of large or complex applications that facilitate the achievement of business outcomes using process and Business Intelligence technology.
Reporting to the Principal Manager – Information Management, you will work on various business requirements in Corporate IM Systems. You will collaborate with various teams and vendor to implement data & reporting solution for DCJ.
What you’ll do
Design tools and implement processes to identify, analyse and facilitate improvements to business systems, processes and workflows aligned with the overall business unit requirements and the Department’s operational plans.
Analyse, consolidate and ensure availability of information to support achievement of business objectives.
Work with key stakeholders to identify how business requirements for information may be delivered from existing data sources using the systems presentation layer.
Provide ongoing analysis and review of ICT applications to identify opportunities to improve and enhance service for the organisation as services transition out of DCJ.
Support Data Warehouse team through provision of end user training, plain language advice on technical issues, analysis of changes to source systems and assessment of data quality.
Provide expert advice and support to policy areas on data related issues, particularly in data definitions and analytical approaches that can contribute to the development of business case capability and knowledge management for the Department.
Prepare written communications such as emails, minutes, briefs, and technical documents to maintain good working relationships with internal and external stakeholders and to facilitate better understanding of data and its use in decision making.
What we’re looking for
Carries a high level of autonomy in setting own priorities, and those of any staff/project staff supervised, in alignment with management.
Maintains a degree of independence to develop a suitable approach in managing the workload, as well as that of supervised staff, and provision of advice and recommendations as well as input to the development of relevant systems, frameworks, team planning and projects.
Determines own actions undertaken, within government and legislative policies, and for ensuring quality control in the implementation of own, and any staff supervised, workload.
Ensures recommendations are based on sound evidence, but at times may be required to use their judgment under pressure or in the absence of complete information or as a source of expert advice to internal stakeholders across the Department as well as externally to Ministerial level.
As necessary, consults with management on a suitable course of action in matters that are sensitive, high-risk, or business-critical, or for those issues that have far reaching implications with respect to resources or quality advice provision.
Essential requirements
Relevant tertiary/professional qualifications in ETL / reporting tools or equivalent experience.
Recent experience in data warehouse tools and technologies, including building workflows, writing SQL queries.
Desired knowledge in working with SAP HR Organisational Management, Personal Administration, Leave, Payroll, Finance Accounting & Controlling
Good to have understandings on Google Cloud Platform, especially areas like BigQuery, workbenches and Cloud storage
