An opportunity to provide high level advice and support to the Development Services team and lead innovative change whilst playing an integral role in the enhancement of our built environment.
We’re seeking a highly driven, experienced professional in the planning industry who is passionate about enhancing the built environment within our community. In this role, you will provide guidance to the Planning Services team and the wider organisation, be responsible for the assessment and reviews of complex development applications across The Barossa Council region, encounter diverse projects from residential, commercial, industrial and rural developments and liaise with community members to maintain high service standards.
Your leadership and people skills will see you:- Specialise in the professional and timely processing of development applications, in accordance with legislative requirements.
- Provide specialist advice, support and assistance relevant to the Planning Services Team on complex matters.
- Provide professional technical planning and development advice to the Barossa Assessment Panel, the community and key stakeholders.
- Contribute to the operation of the team and lead innovative changes that will achieve high quality input and outcomes.
- Assist the Manager Development Services in setting and achieving strategic outcomes and objectives.
- Undertake inspections and investigate complaints in relation to alleged breaches of legislation.
- Sound knowledge and understanding of planning assessments and the planning industry with a passion for enhancing the built environment.
- A Degree or Graduate Diploma in Urban and Regional Planning or related discipline and eligibility to obtain Registered Planner Status of the Planning Institute of Australia.
- Excellent communication skills to build and sustain positive working relationships with people at all levels.
- Key technical knowledge of relevant Acts, regulations and codes including the Planning, Development and Infrastructure Act 2016 and Local Government Act 1999.
- Demonstrated experience in the delivery of end-to-end planning assessment process compliant with relevant Acts.
