The Exciting Opportunity
We currently have an opportunity for an experienced accountant to join our Fleet team at our head office in a full-time permanent capacity as a Senior Asset Accountant. The team manages one of Australia's largest on-road fleets comprising prime movers, trailers and tankers with over 3,000 individual assets
The ideal person this role will have previous 3-5 years of post-qualification experience in a fixed asset and/or capex accounting role and have a high attention to detail coupled with adherence to strict deadlines. In addition, this candidate will have strong stakeholder management skills, a continuous improvement mindset and a strong problem-solving ability
Your Responsibilities
- Processing asset additions, disposals, and transfers and depreciation in the fixed asset register
- Ensuring accurate reporting and analysis of fixed assets
- Ensuring compliance with the company's motor vehicles accounting policy including governance around appropriate depreciation rates
- Assisting with reconciliations & month end tasks
- Analysing depreciation movements and provide period period-end and commentaries on fixed assets
- Preparing of periodical management reports and budgets in conjunction with the Fleet Commercial Manager
- Ensuring accuracy of fuel tax claims in conjunction with external consultants and implement process improvements around data accuracy and automation
- Continuous improvement on fleet assets reporting, R&M spend and input on asset replacement plans
- Other ad hoc duties as required
Your knowledge and experience
- CA/CPA qualification is a must-have
- 3-5 years' post qualification experience as an Asset Accountant in a large company
- Solid understanding of fixed asset accounting requirements
- Strong MS Excel skills
- Self starter who can hit the ground running
- Strong relationship building skills
- Project Management management experience
