We have a new permanent full-time opportunity for a Senior Chemistto join our NATA accredited SAS Labs.
Our SAS Laboratory provides analytical services to not only Urban Utilities but also to multiple customer groups, such as local councils, industrial/manufacturing organisations and supports ongoing research by providing market knowledge and knowing the best methods for each individual need.
This role is a subject matter expert in chemistry (general chemistry OR organics and metals) and is responsible for efficient and competent delivery of chemical analyses for the area of specialty. With a primary focus on production, the role incumbent also has duties to be the subject matter expert in chemistry who is able to guide the analytical chemistry decisions and technical advice to the rest of the team.
Some of your accountabilities will include:
- Communicate the local action plan for chemistry analyses; explain how this relates to laboratory’s strategy and action plan and the broader organization's mission and vision
- Select the appropriate complex tests or tests from a specified range and carry out using specialized methods and equipment; validate and interpret test data to verify that specifications are met and/or to identify remedial actions required.
- Conduct research using primary data sources and select information needed for the analysis of key themes and trends.
- Able to dissect workflows and work to your strengths to create highly functional laboratory work patterns and methodologies.
- Manage relationships with small clients while also helping senior colleagues manage more important client and customer relationships.
About You
We are seeking someone who is passionate about shaping our future, helping people through transformational change and holds the following qualifications, skills and experiences:
- University degree/Graduate Certificate/Honours in science – Chemistry or similar.
- Demonstrated experience in the delivery of environmental chemistry analysis with previously held NATA signatory highly regarded.
- Can expertly guide the decisions of the business and provide technical advice to the rest of the team in regard to environmental chemistry and laboratory best practices.
- Wide array of chemistry testing experience including method verification and interpreting test data to verify that specifications are met and/or to identify remedial actions required to ensure conformance or suitability.
