Senior Communication Officer

Exciting opportunity for a well-rounded Senior Communications Officer to join the friendly and collaborative Communications and Corporate Relations Team of a Parkes based Federal Government Department.
Reporting to an Assistant Director, this role will see you implement an account management approach, building strong relationships across a range of stakeholders, and creating and executing communication strategies.
Initial 6 non-ongoing contract, with potential for extension. Networking opportunities. Formal training and capability development opportunities. Due to the nature of the agency, this role will be based in the office full-time, with adhoc days WFH supported.
Key Responsibilities & Accountabilities:

• Engage with different business areas and external stakeholders to develop key messages and content to meet departmental objectives
• Anticipate and maintain a forward calendar of communication activities and support an account management model approach to working with clients
• Develop and execute fit for purpose communication strategies to support internal and external engagement activities such as media launches, exhibitions, projects and special events
• Develop internal communications and marketing materials for owned channels such as website, social media and EDMs according to content guidelines
• Provide editorial services and content creation to provide near final quality drafts, and apply the relevant accessibility standards
• Evaluate communication activities against objectives for key projects, using data analytics
• Support a positive and engaged team culture and model exceptional teamwork

We are looking for a candidate who can think strategically and contribute to the team's efforts to achieve its goals and strategies with a strong focus on evaluation and continuous improvement.
Skills and Experience required:

• A degree in communications or related discipline
• Minimum of 3 years working in a communications role
• Demonstrated experience in communications account management, including developing communication products and strategies for internal and external audiences
• Excellent writing skills and attention to detail
• Ability to build strong relationships with key stakeholders internally and externally
• Demonstrated planning and organisational skills, including the ability to managing multiple and competing priorities and meet deadlines
• Australian Citizenship and ability to obtain a Baseline security clearance essential
