About the role
We are seeking an Senior Consultant to join our fast growing and supportive External Audit team, that offers a diverse client base, and incredible opportunities for growth and promotion. You will take ownership of the entire audit process from planning, testing, preparing financial statements to preparing the management letter at the completion of the audit. You will also be responsible for delegating work to junior staff members, ensuring you review all work and mentor them though the process. Presenting internal and external training and conducting internal and external presentations are other key components of this position.
Key Responsibilities:
- Complete the audit file for the full range of the firm’s clients; from planning to finalisation of the audit file
- Complete an audit assignment within budget and in accordance with any relevant deadlines
- Explain the data flows through an accounting system and the related internal controls, enabling junior staff members to document and test those systems and controls
- Reviewing the work of junior staff, and recognise internal control weaknesses and document them in a suitable management letter
- Clear all Manager and Partner review points in relation to each audit assignment taken
- Review a financial report from the client’s trial balance and complete the disclosure checklist
- Prepare non-standard management letters, correspondences and reports to client
- Complete special assignments under the direction of the Audit Manager
- Work co-operatively with other team members, mentor junior team members
- Understand the nature of a client’s business operations, needs and expectations, and identify any audit related issues
- Provide constructive advice to clients, and promptly and accurately follow up any queries
Key Skills and Experience:
- Minimum of 3 years’ experience working in an Audit environment in a Chartered / CPA accounting practice
- Degree qualified and be near to qualifying or fully qualified as a CA/CPA
- Technically proficient and keen to develop knowledge with the latest accounting and auditing developments
- Previous experience mentoring and coaching junior staff members, and review their work
- Prior experience working with and developing good relationships with clients
- Good time management skills and ability to prioritise work and meet deadlines for multiple clients
- Present professionally and possess excellent interpersonal and communication skills
- Experience with an Audit package such as Caseware, and Microsoft Office applications
