About the role
We are seeking a motivated and enthusiastic Senior Aboriginal Heritage Consultant. The successful candidate will work with our NSW Heritage team from our office. We are seeking someone with 7+ years’ technical experience and 5 years in the consulting industry managing a diverse project portfolio, or equivalent.
What will make us a great match
This role will best suit to a motivated Senior-level Heritage Consultant with 5 years or more experience in the NSW Heritage space.
Specifically, we are looking for:
- Tertiary qualification, preferably a degree in Aboriginal Heritage / Archaeology.
- A minimum of 7 years practical experience undertaking field-based surveys, data analysis, report writing, preferably in a consulting capacity within NSW.
- Previous completion of compliant Aboriginal Cultural Heritage Assessments in accordance with the New South Wales National Parks and Wildlife Regulation 2009 and associated codes and guidelines.
- Precise attention to detail and ability to produce professional quality deliverables on time and on Budget.
- Strong analytical, conceptual and assessment skills, together with strong professional experience.
- Produce technical reports and preparation of associated appendices which may include site diagrams, formatting site and aerial photographs.
- Excellent communication skills, strong interpersonal and time management skills.
- Willingness to provide mentoring to junior heritage team members.
- Capability to bring in work from your own network.
- Ability to work outdoors and a willingness to travel to field locations throughout QLD for periods of time.
- NSW White Card (CIC)
- First Aid certificate (desirable).

Heritage management
Niche provides specialist cultural heritage services to a wide range of industry sectors and to clients of various scale. Our experienced archaeologists and heritage professionals work closely with project proponents, landholders, local communities and traditional owners to provide site assessments, management plans, archival recording and analysis and conservation advice.
This role reports to Morgan Disspain who currently leads Niche's Heritage Team for NSW & QLD. Morgan’s cultural heritage career has spanned over 14 years and has incorporated both academic and consulting experience. She has extensive experience in cultural heritage management in NSW, QLD, and WA, and has carried out archaeological research projects in NT, SA, QLD, and South America.
