The Role and our Branch

The Standards and Integrity Directorate is seeking a highly motivated and dedicated individual to the role of Senior ConsultantWorking with Children Checks (WCC)

As the Senior Consultant – WCC you will provide effective project management in relation to the development, implementation, monitoring and updating of policies, procedures and strategies to facilitate the Working with Children legislation. This role will involve the successful applicant undertaking high-level research and analysis of relevant legislation, trends and issues within the

State, in other States and overseas in relation to Working with Children policies and practices and the protection of children.

This position will require strong interpersonal and consultation skills with proven ability to establish networks and liaise effectively with officers at all levels both internal and external. The ability to adapt to change and work collaboratively to ensure the sharing of relevant information to maintain and monitor legislative compliance obligations is highly desirable.

Eligibility and Training Requirements

Employees will be required to:

  • provide evidence of eligibility to work in Australia for the term of the vacancy
  • complete a declaration prior to employment and annually thereafter disclosing any previous disciplinary findings, criminal charges or convictions, and ongoing conflicts of interest
  • provide a statement from previous employer/s with regard to any disciplinary findings 
  • complete the Department’s induction program within three months of commencement
  • complete the Department’s training in Accountable and Ethical Decision-Making within six months of appointment and every three years thereafter.
  • complete the Department’s Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander cultural awareness online course within 3 months of commencement
  • complete any training specific to this role required by Departmental policy
  • consent to a Nationally Coordinated Criminal History Check and obtain a current Screening Clearance Number issued by the Department of Education’s Screening Unit prior to commencement of employment

The Department applies a four (4) day breach period to this selection process.

This selection process will initially be used to fill the above vacancy.
