The Opportunity
This role is based at our Southbank office and works within our Rail Systems division. Great team and stakeholders with the opportunity for you to gain career exposure and development opportunities.
With the guidance of the Commercial and Contracts Manager, this role will see you be involved in effective commercial practices, including contractual and legal compliance in respect of project activities, mostly being involved in upstream contract support.
Key responsibilities include.
- Provide clear, concise advice to project teams in relation to upstream contractual rights and obligations.
- Ensure upstream contracts are administered effectively to ensure responsibilities and obligations of the contract are met, and UGL's rights and interests are protected in a manner that is timely, accurate and compliant.
- Support the project managers to monitor the project margin position, protecting financial interests, quantifying and budgeting costs.
- Participate in scope of works planning, ensuring that scope gaps are minimised, cost efficiencies are maximised and subcontractor capabilities are considered.
- Ensure accurate contractual records are maintained, including correspondence, contract change management, delays, extensions of time, warranties and other contract management matters.
- Monitor any change during project delivery, assessing effects on cost, measuring values and negotiating any variations.
- Undertake robust contract and commercial analysis of issues, identify prospective claims, assess viability of active claims.
- Assist Commercial Manager with construction claims and dispute resolution matters.
Requirements to be successful.
- Minimum of 7 years' experience in a Contracts Administration role within an engineering or construction management environments.
- Demonstrated commercial acumen and the ability to interpret and apply contracts.
- Experience drafting head contract letters.
- Demonstrated high-level decision making, negotiation and influencing skills.
- Significant experience in the management of major subcontract packages for large-scale complex building or infrastructure projects.
