Senior Contracts Specialist

Bhagwan Marine is seeking an experienced and motivated Senior Contracts Specialist to join our team based in the Perth CBD office. The successful candidate will play a crucial role in providing specialist support towards the contract life cycle within Bhagwan Marine including the analysis, review, negotiation and coordination of contracts and agreements.  

Key Responsibilities:

• Assist with the review, drafting, negotiation, implementation and ongoing management of all customer and supplier contracts to ensure that commercial, legal and risk elements are balanced to achieve profitable outcomes whilst mitigating and controlling risk.
• Assist with managing the insurance portfolio of Bhagwan Marine, including insurance claims.
• Assist with the management of the portfolio of leased/hired assets, including lease/hire agreement review, drafting, negotiation and agreement execution.
• Assist with the commercial aspects of tender preparation, commercial proposals, quotations, and customer analysis, inclusive of contract exceptions and risk assessments.
• Ongoing development of contractual processes to meet the requirements of an expanding business, including the implementation of a contract management system.
• Manage all contract variations with key stakeholders within both the business and with Clients.
• Assist and lead contract negotiations as delegated.
• Manage contract start-up meetings for new contracts with internal stakeholders as required.
• Assist with coordinating periodic contract performance reviews including collation and distribution of contract KPI data.
• Drive process improvement with a view to delivering efficiencies in terms of cost and timeliness of delivery.
• Actively support, implementation and participate in the successful management and ongoing improvement of Bhagwan Marine integrated management system incorporating triple certification to ISO 9001, 14001 and 45001 standards.
• Compliance with Bhagwan Marine Policies, Procedures, workplace standards, appropriate Codes of Practice and any relevant legislative requirements that may be introduced or amended from time to time.
• Assist Business Units with ensuring that all operations are conducted in accordance with relevant policies, procedures, and legislative requirements, to ensure safety to staff, the community, and the environment.
• Provide coverage of other relevant positions in the Business Unit, as required, such as in the event of annual leave or other absence.

Qualifications and Experience:

• Tertiary qualification in Law and/or Commerce is essential.
• 5+ years’ experience in a Contract Specialist role or similar.
• Strong contractual/legal review, drafting, negotiation, dispute resolution and contract analytical skills.
• Comprehensive understanding of Commercial Law.
• Experience in the marine, oil and gas, resource, or construction industry sectors (preferred).
• Understanding of Marine logistics and services contracts (preferred).
• Working knowledge of corporate policies, procedures and relevant legislation impacting business.
• Sound business acumen / commercial sense.
• Proven problem solving and analytical skills.
• Excellent interpersonal verbal and written communication skills.
• Strong computer skills in Word, Excel, Outlook, and Power Point.
