The Senior Design Officer provides art direction, technical creative skills and UX knowledge as they oversee the workflow and delivery of all creative production and design assets for the QBCC. This includes managing all in-house creative and design requests and coordinating with external agencies. This role will provide strategic design advice to the QBCC and will lead the creative services function within the broader Communications Team. This role will solidify and implement a cohesive brand across a wide range of traditional and digital platforms focusing on internal and external audiences.

Key Outcomes and Accountabilities
The aim of this role is to:
- Design and produce high quality print, digital and video products for the QBCC.
- Ensure that the integrity of the QBCC brand and reputation is maintained consistently across all materials, including development and governance of relevant brand and style guidelines.
- Develop, manage and contribute to workflow processes for the Communications team to enable effective delivery of creatives services to the QBCC.
- Collaborate with the broader Customer and Strategy Division and key business units to create engaging content for a range of purposes, including internal communications, external campaigns, social media, annual report and other publications.
- Act as an approval point for brand guidelines for all assets generated by external agencies.
- Supervise, mentor and manage team members within the creative services function to build capacity and capability and ensure all work is delivered to a high standard – this includes a videographer/photographer and graphic designer.
- Stay up-to-date with industry trends and design tools, and emerging technologies to ensure our creative work is impactful and effective.
- Conduct quality checks on all design deliverables to ensure accuracy, consistency, and adherence to brand guidelines.
- Embed a Digital Asset Management (DAM) system and associated internal processes within the QBCC, and support with ongoing governance and maintenance.
- Well-developed skills in the development of static, digital and animated content.
- Ability to work on multiple projects within short timeframes, including briefing in external agencies.
- Experience in concept development, storyboarding and campaign ideation.
- Ability to influence, build relationships and provide a high level of customer service.
- Proven experience in videography, animation, storyboarding and content creation with proficiency in video and editing software (e.g Adobe Premiere).
- Experience leading a small creative services team within a fast-paced environment.
